
Dr Corey Alton

Dr Corey Alton obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree from the University of Queensland in Brisbane. Originally from Canada, he did an undergraduate degree in kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario before moving to Australia to do his medical degree and training.
Dr Corey worked as a resident at the Townsville Hospital where he gained experience in various fields including emergency medicine, paediatrics, geriatrics, and rural medicine. Following this he went on to pursue a career in general practice. He did his specialist GP training locally at James Cook University and obtained his fellowship in general practice with the Royal Australian College of GPs.

Dr Corey has enjoyed living and working in Townsville for the past 7 years where he remains committed to providing the best health care to the local community. Known for being a good listener, Dr. Corey approaches patient care with patience, empathy, and a desire to understand and address his patients’ needs.
Outside of work he enjoys reading, playing tennis, spending time outdoors, going to the beach, and trying new cuisines. His specialists’ interests in general practice include preventative medicine, chronic disease management and Veteran health.
